Welcome
At 'Angie's Childcare' your child will enjoy the benefits of playing and learning in a happy, friendly, family home from home environment.
We have a child friendly playroom where everything is in easy reach for the children with little tables and chairs, cushions and low level shelves and baskets and a comfy settee for reading and relaxation. They can choose what they wish to play with themselves making them little independent individuals. Many toys are natural or wooden allowing open ended play but we do still have plastic as there is a time and a place for these great resources too. We also have a rear garden for outside play but do prefer to travel to our local woods for exploring where they can be physically active like running and jumping and practice our woodland yoga!
We do many fun activities together such as:
The aspects of Learning and Development are:
Prime Areas
Specific Areas
All of this is in connection with the Characteristics of Effective Learning (how children learn)
We also cover group topics like Summer Time, Bugs & Insects and Using our senses. Children do not have to participate in every activity but will be encouraged.
I feel playing and learning outdoors is very important both physically and mentally. We venture outside most days to local parks, fields and woods.
We focus on British Values like being polite, table manners, sharing and taking turns, listening, visiting and being part on our local community and learning about the world around us.
Children are encouraged to be as independent as possible in play and socially. This enables them to use their imagination and think for themselves and not rely on adults all the time. This is actively promoted at the setting allowing plenty of time to develop these skills.
The day starts out with 'what's on Angie's table' where each day is a different set up. The children are keen to come in and see what's on the table. It could be a new 'topic' or an activity where a parent has sent me a photo of their child doing something at home. Whether they play with what's on the table, is entirely up to them as learning is based around what the children show an interest in. They may wish to go off and find what they prefer to play with independently and the day begins. Their learning journey develops during the day.
I hope that all children who come to Angie's Childcare enjoy what we do, make new friends but most importantly are happy!

We do many fun activities together such as:

- Outdoor activities e.g tuff tray for lots of sensory play, nature and woodland walks
- Painting, colouring, drawing, sticking, play dough, gloop (messy play!)
- Musical movement, mini yoga, instruments and singing
- Reading and story time
- Trips to local shops, park, local toddler and Childminding groups, library
- Trips to Brockworth Aquatic Centre, Sculpture Trail in the Forest Of Dean, indoor play areas occasionally
- Visits in our local community - shops and library

- Active Learning
- Creating and Thinking Critically
- To develop each child's learning and development, activities are focussed on individual interests. e.g. - a child loves The Gruffalo - so we may walk through the local woods pretending to be the Gruffalo looking out for the characters (Understanding the World), read The Gruffalo story together (Literacy), paint The Gruffalo pictures (Expressive Art & Design) and count the characters (maths).
We also cover group topics like Summer Time, Bugs & Insects and Using our senses. Children do not have to participate in every activity but will be encouraged.
